The Manser Practice were appointed by Merlin Entertainments Developments as architects & interior designers on the new 76 bedroom CBeebies Land Hotel at Alton Towers Resort in Staffordshire.
The hotel is the fourth major accommodation development at Alton Towers, and the first to be tied directly to an outside brand (CBeebies & the BBC). It comprises fully themed bedrooms and suites with a large dedicated restaurant, bar and entertainment space. The site had already had permission for a hotel extension block and the challenge was to convert this permission into a fully independent ‘premium’ offering hotel. This involved extensive work with the planning consultant and local authority to generate new layouts to accommodate the new brief whilst keeping the revised planning application minimal.
