Stargazing Pods

The Manser Practice were engaged by Merlin Entertainments to masterplan and oversee the design and construction of 102 ‘stargazing pods’ and accompanying guest facilities at Alton Towers Resort. Each providing sleeping accommodation for up to four people, the pre-fabricated pods have been arranged on site in clusters around a ‘village green’ surrounded by mature pine trees and indigenous woodland, helping create a dark sky area suitable for stargazing. TMP achieved planning in summer 2018 and the pods were open to the public in time for the 2019 season.
