In August 2022 The Manser Practice (TMP) were invited by Manx National Heritage to carry out a feasibility study to reconfigure the Nautical Museum, Castletown, to provide a new home to ‘Peggy’, one of the world’s oldest yachts and the single most important artefact in their collection. TMP worked alongside exhibition designers RAA to re-plan the existing layout to better house the museum’s collection, establishing a clear guest journey through the building while upgrading insulation and services to current standards where practicable. These 700sq.m internal refurbishment works are accompanied by a new 100sq.m extension to house the ‘Peggy’, as well as general external repair works to the listed building, working closely with a local heritage consultant in the Castletown Conservation Area.
