The Manser Practice at Sketch

We kicked off the new year at Sketch with some quirky ideas on how to improve London

Last year we asked the office to come up with ideas on how to improve London and it’s infrastructure. There was no brief and they could be as outrageously creative as they liked. We decided to get a roomful of clients, colleagues and construction industry friends together for breakfast at one of our favourite projects, Sketch in Mayfair, to present some of these ideas, and although some might be considered off the wall we also went into detail of how in a few years, some of these may no longer be considered so far fetched.

So how about turning the M4 into Heathrow’s 4th runway or turning the circle line into a travellator that has a fast and a slow lane. We could encourage the use of the Thames as an option for tourists, either by boat or a walkway, keeping the tubes free for commuters and a much more pleasant way for tourists to see the city. What about using old disused tube stations to grow vegetables and hold farmers markets for the local communities?

Sometimes it pays to think outside the box and in a few years those ideas may no longer be considered out of the norm.
